About the artist

Arvid Vannerus (b. 1996) is a Swedish artist based in Stockholm. Working across a range of media including painting, sculpture, photography, relief, video and collage, his work draws on personal experiences and memories.

Recurring subjects include childhood, family and dogs, alongside an interest in occult aesthetics, ritual and meditation. His work is also informed by a desire to challenge the norms of the environment in which he grew up.

In his paintings, Vannerus often works with abstraction, pattern and repetition, moving between geometric structures and more spontaneous, gestural forms. He is drawn to painting for its ability to evoke a response beyond explanation — the feeling of encountering a painting can be more important than what it means.

He has studied art at Basis Konstskola and Gerlesborgsskolan, both in Stockholm.
